Tour Itinerary
Day 1 - Tuesday
02 Sep - Toronto - Glasgow
Day 2 - Wednesday
03 Sep – arrive a.m. –Immediately on arrival our first visit
will be the Botanical Gardens Glasgow. This will give us
a chance to stretch our leg and see the newly restored Kibble Palace glass
house. We continue to Robbie Burns Country and the Tam’o shanter
visitors Centre where details of “Robbies” lively lifestyle
and translations of his poetry can be better appreciated. Welcome dinner
at our hotel in Kirkcudbright. - 2nights D
Day 3 - Thursday
04Sep – Our first touring day will take us to explore the West Coast
Gardens and the added opportunity to enjoy the Badenoch distillery along
the scenic Galloway forest area. BD
Day 4 - Friday
05 Sept – As we head east, towards the Scottish Border Country we will
be visiting gardens along the way, also at Locharron, we
will learn about the manufacture of the traditional kilt tartans. Our Hotel
is located in the town of Peebles - 3 nights. BD
Day 5 -
Saturday
6 Sep – We have a full day of events as we experience the history of
Scotland while we are strolling through the cobbled streets in the City
of Edinburgh. This morning, our day will begin with a visit to the Edinburgh
Botanical Gardens, followed by walking the Royal Mile and absorbing
the history of this elegant city.. Dinner at Hotel BD
Day 6 - Sunday
7 Sep –Today we explore the Scottish Borders and Abbotsford,
the ancestral home of Sir Walter Scott. Specialty gardens, personally selected
by Marjorie will be included today .Dinner at Hotel. BD
Day 7 - Monday
8 Sep – We continue South to the visit famous newly restored Alnwick
Gardens with its magnificent water features . We then continue to
our next stop to absorb the history at Hadrian’s Wall.
The ever-changing landscape across Pennines takes us to the Lake District
for our three days peaceful panorama surrounding this area of outstanding
beauty. Our Lake District Hotel in the Windermere area. 3nights BD
Day 8 - Tuesday
9 Sep – If you are a devotee of BEATRIX POTTER, you
will find Hilltop Farm a memorable experience. Nearby the spectacular Holehird
Gardens are entirely staffed by the enthusiastic volunteers of the
Lakeland Horticultural Society. BD
Day 9 - Wednesday
10 Sep Our fresh air day for hiking in the hills with Marjorie, taking a
boat trip on Lake Windermere or just relaxing in this glorious scenery.

Day 10 - Thursday
11 Sep – An exhilarating ride across the Yorkshire Dales will enable
us to enjoy picturesque Herriot country (All creatures Great
and Small) and the town of Helmsley, before arrival in the
historical City of York and a stroll through the Shambles this
evening. – 2 two nights..BD
Day 11 - Friday
12 Sep – We will visit the Harrogate Fall Flower Show this
morning and explore Harrogate, a noted spa town. On returning to York we
shall include visits to the Jorvik Viking exhibit, York Minster and
perhaps take a walk along the ancient city wall .BD
Day 12 - Saturday
13 Sep – Our final hotel in historical Chester gives
us the opportunity for specific garden visits en route and time to familiarize
ourselves with this popular ancient city. BD.
Day 13 - Sunday
14 Sep
In North Wales we will be visiting Bodnant Gardens and have
a glimpse of the ever-changing scenery of the Welsh Mountains of Snowdonia.
Dramatic Carnarvon Castle will be on our coastal route.
Tonight will be our farewell dinner and party. Here we can recall some personal
experiences of the tour, poetically or musically speaking as the spirit moves
you. BD
Day 14 - Monday
15 Sep Manchester – Toronto
